Title: NJSWF 2015 Suggestion Box ( All Members Please Read !! )
Post by: Kenny on December 09, 2014, 05:58:57 PM
I wanted to post this up for a while so here goes...

As you all know, we have done a NJSWF site Tog trip for the last 6 years..and we just did our 2nd tuna trip..all of which I consider not only a great time with great friends but Huge successes !!

What are guys thoughts about maybe expanding that in 2015 and adding a fluke and striper charter as well ??

What about doing some type of site tourney next year maybe with the fluke, stipers and tog ??

Would love to see what everyone thinks as far as how we could expand our site trips next year being that we all seem to have such a great time going on them not to mention that this is how most of us have met one and other and built so many great friendships.

Lets treat this thread as a suggestion box if you will to try to generate some new ideas and maybe put a new spin on the old..

I for one feel that there is much more we can do as a group next year...perhaps we start that process here..  t^

Have a idea or suggestion... post it up !!

Ideas for 2015

Alaska !!

Members Shark Tourney

Salmon Trip to Pulaski

Night Bluefish Trip

Bonita & False Albacore Trip

Site Fluke and Striper Trips

Big Azz Bon fire/beach party/BBQ get together

Coffee Mugs/New Apparel

do any of the party boats do inshore trips for mahi mahi and tuna? One I would definitely love to do is a night jumbo blues trip but not sure anyone else would be into it.

Not sure if any party boats do the inshore tuna/Mahi thing ... I think it's too hit or miss inshore to make a trip out of..

But I bet if you posted up a night bluefish trip some guys on here would join you ..

If you don't post and try you'll never know !!  That's exactly the kind of thing that this site was built for... Bringing guys together to fish ..

Great idea to try !!

A NJSWF member shark tournament might be fun. We could make it a month long or so. Mid-June to mid-July are good times for sharking.  Maybe join as a team effort so the same boat can go a couple times with a different group if needed.  Just a thought..

We should do more group trips, Striper, fluke, tog, and maybe a night bluefish trip.

I didnt include the Tuna trip because not everyone can do it.

As much fun as I have reading the reports and jokes on here Id much rather be on a boat creating the reports and hearing the jokes t^

Some cool Njswf swag would also be nice (different tshirts, stickers, maybe coffe mugs idk :headscra:) while I love my indigo hoodie the other parents at my sons school are wondering if Im just a dirtbag who wears the same shirt everyday or if I have a closet full of them (I wonder that myself also)

Maybe hosting a flea market, or a seminar somewhere would invite new and active members to jump in this thing we got going. Im sure everyone here could buy or sell something  ;D

TRIP DESCRIPTIONS

3-6 Day Trips

Trips of 3 to 6 days duration aboard the Excel typically range south to offshore tuna grounds, possibly Guadalupe Island, or along the Baja Coast, visiting such islands as San Martin, Geronimo, Cedros and San Benitos.
During the late spring, expect the action to be best for Yellowtail, Yellowfin Tuna and a variety of other species around the islands, with the good chance of intercepting schools of Bluefin Tuna and Albacore. Summer into the fall is prime time for migratory runs of all tuna species.  Yellowtail and Dorado are also found around floating kelp paddies.

7-10 Day Trips

Our 7 to 10-day trips offer the most variety in fishing action as we explore the southwestern Baja coastline from San Pablo to Magdalena Bay, often with a run out to Alijos Rocks.  These trips are usually scheduled for early summer, and again throughout the fall months. Fishing along the inside “ridge” is outstanding for big Wahoo, Yellowtail, Dorado, Yellowfin Tuna and Marlin, with Pargo and giant Grouper being the reward for those dropping bait to the bottom.  Alijos Rocks is a hot spot for Yellowfin Tuna in the 100-pound class, Wahoo, and world record size Yellowtail.

12+ Day Trips

12+ day trips aboard the Excel target the very finest Yellowfin Tuna and Wahoo fishing in the world, ranging over 1,000 miles south to such exotic locales as Hurricane Bank, Puerto Vallarta, Cleofus Bank, or even beyond the remote Clipperton atoll.  From these prolific tropical waters, Capt. Bill Poole has returned with numerous record catches for his passengers, including the IGFA all-tackle world record Yellowfin Tuna which stood for many years and only recently beat.  In the 1970's and 1980's, 200 pounds was the challenge. Now, with modern technology, gear and less fish lost, Yellowfin can easily reach 300 pounds and even surpass the 400 pound mark. Scheduled from winter to spring, these longest of the long-range trips offer the ultimate in big game fishing.

And maybe a buy and sell of some of you stuff

Make it an all-day affair . Stay all day or stop by for an hour or so.

Just a thought.

Although I wouldn't be able to participate in Fishing trips..to me that sounds like something that has worked for you guys in the past and only requires the members her to join in. What I feel works for more of a diverse group is having a get together and a few fishing seminars during the off season. BBQ outings are nice too. If we had a hall to rent say from a local fire house or Lodge once a month and have member meetings that is something to think about also. Organizational jackets are nice, it make everyone show that they belong to something.

Along the lines of NJ Saltwater Fisherman. This site is nice, but to me it becomes a bit to impersonal because we mostly communicate on the net not much face behind the communication. What I'm saying it's nice to have a get together and meet people with the same interest and share there experiences in person.

We could even wear name tags so everyone will know who is who!

Some good ideas were mentioned during the Tog trip..

1- some type of fun Shark Tourney.
2- night head boat Bluefishing trip
3- Casual summer BBQ - I mentioned I would make my home "Club Ed" available if needed.  Lake Lefferts is across the street if anyone wants to make a few casts in the sweet water.  Volleyball area out front.  Back yard has Tiki Bar, Kegerator, cool mist system, pool, Spa, Firepit and Plenty of room for Tables and chairs to rent or bring some, My Firehouse does BBQ catering at a good cost locally. Cost should be low per person.

How about a BBQ get together?

Bring the wife and kids and something to eat.

Horseshoe tournament

Softball game

Casting contest

And maybe a buy and sell of some of you stuff

Make it an all-day affair . Stay all day or stop by for an hour or so.

Just a thought.

We could also look for a VFW hall. A lot of them around and maybe we can get one cheap
depending on the size.. I can get one for about 75 people at a very, very good price..

Not sure how I missed this post. Great ideas, Kenny. I like the month long shark tourney idea that Eddie suggested.
