Bottom fishing 1/2/11
« on: January 03, 2011, 06:55:36 AM »
I had the pleasure of fishing on none sponsor boat with Capt Carl, Capt Dave, Matt, Jamie and Tom. Left the dock at 7:00 with thick fog with a few feet visibility, when Capt Chad saw something on the radar that looked like a buoy and we slowed up to see what it was. It turned out to be a seal floating on a piece of ice.
It was a long ride to the fishing grounds, but after the anchor was set the fog started to lift and we started to hook up on the Blackfish. Capt Carl managed to catch the biggest Black. After awhile Capt Chad headed for some deeper water for some Ling, Cod and more Blackfish. Capt Dave managed the biggest Cod and Capt Carl figured out the dog fish bite.  rofla I didn’t have a clicker, but I think it was around a dozen or so. Capt Chad worked hard all day to keep us on fish. Everyone caught fish and we made it back to the dock by 18:00.  Total for the day not counting the Dog’s was 7 Cod, 5 keeper Black’s, and around 15 fat Ling. Not a bad for the first trip of the year with a great crew.  t^
