I fished a NS sailing out of Sandy Hook Bay Marina in the Highlands on Wednesday. It was very sad as the surrounding area still has not been rebuilt since Sandy. It was insane, stupid sea bass fishing. If you were not reeling when you went to close the bail your bait was gone. The only problem was the ratio was about 10 shorts for every keeper. I had to catch 200 to 250 sea bass to get my limit of 20. No big sea bass as most keepers were 13 or 14 inches. During the crazy bite I had one e cigarettes in about 3 hours as I did not want to take the time to light one. LOL We limited the boat for the 10 anglers by around noon. Everyone also had a few porgies thrown in the mix.We fished somewhere in the area of the Mud Dump or 17 fathoms. We were in about 40 feet of water and it was a very weird bottom for sea bass to be stacked up on. It almost felt like sand or something without major debris or rocks. Not once did anyone on the boat get snagged on the bottom that I saw. We made a stop on the Sandy Hook reef and caught a few blackfish before heading home.We did not see any birds working either on the way out or the way in. The striper fleet was between the channels in a line with the tip of Sandy Hook.Tight Lines,Bob G
