Title: SouthPaw 5/23
Post by: SouthPaw on May 24, 2009, 09:41:36 PM
Headed out of Shark River around 8:30 with a heavy fog condition. Slowly trolled north close to shore whereas the fog was much lighter. With no action on the troll up to Long Beach decided to switch over to do some fluking. A few drifts put several sea bass in the cooler. All caught by Liz. With picking slow and fog moving in headed back to port. After clearing the inlet i received a call from Capt. Joe of the Irish Ayes of huge bass not far from shore. A quick u-turn and back out I go. Shortly after finding Joe I set up my drift with bunker. After watching Joe come in right behind me for his second drift and immediately hooking up his second fish, Liz manages to hook up with a 33 pounder. We reset for another drift and can see the bass chasing bunker on the surface. I throw a stretch 25 on and cast it out and after 5 casts manage to hook up with another striper in the same weight range. No more activity we headed back to the dock and met up with Capt. Joe and thanked him.

It was good to see you come back out for the bite, as short lived as it was. Good report and pics.  t^
