Had the boys (Capt Mike, Hareball, Johnny Oz and Bob G) out hunting for shark today. Went to the mud hole. Wanted to go further but the weather report was a little iffy. Marine forcast called for 10-15 knot winds, Weather Channel and Weather Bug called for 15-25. Never know what one to believe, if any.

Tossed the lines off at 5:30 and broke the inlet to find about 1-2' seas. Not bad so we trotted on.

Saw birds diving NE of Shark River reef. Motored over to them and put some jigs down. Brought a few 10# blue fish back to the boat. Fresh bait.  t^

Drove the rest of the way to the Monster Ledge area to find some more bird play. Figured it would be a good spot to set up the shark outfits and to try for some more blues at the same time.

Had one rod bouncing but no hook up. Brought it back to the boat with the bait missing from the hook. Felt like a blue fish bite, not a shark.

Bob G had a line down to the bottom and hooked up with a spiney doggie. Back it went.

The wind started picking up and so did we(Weather Channel and Weather Bug was almost right, wind was more like 30+ and not 25 gusts).

Made the slow ride back toward land into 5-7' seas. Thank God for the pilot house.  TT^

Got close to shore and read some bunker on the machine. Having just purchase a Percy bunker net yesterday decided to give it some practice throws in the water on the bunker. Had the net opening half decent and did get one bunker into the net. ;D The guys snagged enough for us to each have a bait. (Didn't expect to be long trying for bass as we were tired from the early start).

Took our bait to a lump that has been producing for us and put the baits down. Bob G had the hot hand. Line starts paying out and he locks up on it. After a brief battle Bob brings a 44# linesider to the net. Into the box and on ice.

Made two more drifts across the lump and called it a day. And a long one at that.

 Definitely no problem with the skeeters or black flies yesterday ;D It even got better when it started to walk around more the the NorthWest around 1 pm..... Nice bass ;)  way to make lemon aid out of lemons on a busted trip. Are you throwing the 10 or 12 footer? One thing is for sure there is nothing lite about those nets but they sure get the job done right. Love to see a pic when when you nail a school.

Capt Birch. I got the 10 'er. Just got it the day before. I have thrown a smaller net with no problem. Still need practice with this one. I do get it to open but when I bring it up there's nothing inside it but water.  ;D

Don't know if there is a secret as to when to throw it after you get reading on machine or what.  5hrug If anyone has an answer, I'd appreciate it.
