I hit the boat yesterday with the wife and my sister for a day of fluking. With the lousy weather the past few days and the larger swell forecast in the ocean I knew it would be a day of drifting the river.
We hit the river by the 2 stick at the top of the high tide to a nice drift. First line in with a 2oz Sharkbite bucktail and it was an instant hit. We fished the river until slack with tons of hits, a bunch of shorts, and one keeper. At the slack we decided to just poke our head out of the inlet. The wind was calm with a very doable 4-5' ground swell. We bounced around outside for little bit and only managed 1 short.
Came back inside after the swing of the tide for a few more shorts. Ended the day with just the one keeper by my sister and a dozen or more shorts. It was a good time with the girls.
Planning on getting out again on Friday with the wife and kids for some crabbing and flatties.
