From reading many post here and many posts on a few other site, it seems like it was a good idea for me to stay in the harbor today. All reports around seem very, very, minimal this weekend. Hopefully things pick up.
-
I was from Shark River to the Sandy Hook clam beds. Only got blues north of Asbury while jigging under some birds.
Had one porgy at the red church. Nothing further north.
-
Saturday there was a good false albacore bite from the tip of the Hook south past Manasquan Inlet.
-
Problem is things are going to pick up to late. Boat comes home after next weekend. Capt Joe save me a spot t^
-
This coming weekend could be the start of the run we all have been waiting for if mother nature co-operates!!!!!!
-
You're in Skip. t^
-
I was out for a couple hours and had no luck at all. just a few nibbles. didnt even hook a fish.
-
yeah, Im running out of time myself before I pull the Luna Sea out, hopefully I get at least 1 good striper trip.
-
There goes my spot on Joe's boat thanks Pop Soul
-
Of course next weekend will be good I haven't a bats chance in he__ of getting out. HS football game with the band in the morning Marlboro. Evening competition at Brick and a Sunday competition in Ewing Twp. at TCNJ till 5 or 6.
I can't wait till graduation.

Don't worry about a thing SouthPaw Joe can make room for one more everyone will just have to skip 1 layer of clothing TT^
-
With all the gear my guys bring, I am soon going to have to rent a floatable u-haul so there is room on the boat for the fishermen. TT^
-
I took off from work Wed, Thu and Friday...hopefully my timing will be good for a change.
-
Good Luck Guys...

hopefull this is the calm before the storm.. that's STRIPER STORM..
-
We have a full moon on the 25th t^ Maybe after that the fish will start moving from where ever they are hiding t^
-
I have a good friend who charters out of Long Island North Shore near Montauck, and they have been blasting 20-30 lber's for some time.......our luck like the last two years they will take the off shore route :'(
-
It does seem the later the run is in the year, the further out the stripers stay, avoiding the Jersey coast line.
-
The Fall run starting later, But seems like the spring run of stripers is longer ::) Heck Joe we had Bunker schools in the area through the middle of July.
-
Yup, the past couple of years the spring run had been much better than the fall run. Never was like that before. It has to do with the huge number of bunker that are in the area in the spring.
-
And what appears to be the lack of adult bunker in fall.
Spring has been OUTSTANDING past several years, especially last year,

Horrible for fishin yes, but we did manage to get out both Sat and Sun afternoons, DVR'd the gamez, found a spot for the boat for winter storage AND a slip for next yr, and picked a sh!tload of tomatoes (when will they ever stop?)
Report:
Sat: glass in the Navesink, a few birds working, nutz many places. Shrewsbury a lil choppier but not bad. Bay had rollers and chop but manageable, a few blues but nothing to write home about. The rip was rough, laid down outside but still nada fishez...
Sun: choppier overall in the rivers; mostly worked some holes/birds in the Navesink. I was throwing metals which were probably too big so again a zippomagnet. Sweetie didn't feel like Hookin' it so we only made it out to the bay to get some fuel then took a boat ride up the Shrewsbury. Did not see a fish landed but lotsa nutz again especially near sunset (which comes quickly nowadays.) Cast and quick retrieve you could snag them pretty easy but nothing doin if you let sink and jig under them.
Not horrible, way better than work....

Welcome! I love Maine! I took a trip to Boothbay Harbor last year. Didn't catch a fish over 18"'s but who cares when you're in such a great place. I plan to visit the state much more often, so keep the info coming!
