Inshore Attempt, 19Aug
« on: August 19, 2012, 05:03:55 PM »
Plan was to hit the Barnegat ridge for some bonito's

Got to the dock about o'dark thirty, stole Hotrods cast net and loaded up the live well with about 150 peanut bunks.

Made it out to the 5mile line and called it off, was getting thrown all over the place. Very confused sea, with swells stacked right on top of each other.

Dropped a couple peanuts down in 65foot of water to nothing.

Moved to the Barn reef, first drift SeaChelle boats a nice 21" flattie and that was it for the day. A lot of hits, but just couldn't come up tight on anything else.

Packed it in around noon'ish, and gave the boat a good washing.

 t^  Better than working
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

I don't think you missed much out at the ridge. We were there on Friday and the water was murky, not the clean clear water the pelagics want. We need a week of sustained east or north east to bring in some clean warm water

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
