I saw one guy around my way that uses approx 12-18" sections of some sort of metal (similar to ceiling fan pulls). Do you know what/where these can be found? Seems like a real good way to avoid looping that occurs with prepackaged rigs.

What is the most versatile size/weight/colors for bass around North Jersey?

May want to get a few for my son-in-law who loves the Striped fish.

Usually fishes off Rockaway.

I like the 6" for Barnegat Bay and the 8" for outside.  All four of the colors Rod carries work. t^

BTW, the NJSWF tackle site says the 6" is 3/8 oz, but that's just the head weight.  The overall weight of the 6" is around 3/4 oz and throws pretty good on a light spinner.
