Quick Question
« on: April 23, 2010, 07:36:57 PM »
I'm replacing my trim tabs, pump, pistons, etc......  Do I keep the hose lengths to each piston equal?  Does it make a difference?  I have heard both "theories", but can somebody field verify?

If they are hydraulic lines you are referring to it should not matter. Pressure is equal unless there is air in one of the lines. Then that side would be slower than the other. So a 1 foot line or a 5 foot line pressure is the same.

I've never had a call to replace a complete system, only repair or replace worn out or non-working parts but it should make no difference on hose lengths.

Matt,

Of course you never had that call as I am not a customer of yours.  chrz  After researching the replacement of just the tabs, I decided to just replace everything.  If you could ask my "crew" they would tell you "that's how he rolls".  But honestly, I just have a mind set from working on race cars to boats that if we can fix it now......let's do it.
