I haven't had a chance to get out front due to the high winds, so decided to continue crabbing. It has been really slow most of the year. Usually I am filling bushels in early April.
Finally after a long wait, they just started picking up a 2 weeks ago. The good news is, they are all huge. The quantity is starting to show up, but the size makes up for it.
3 traps with an overnight soak is bringing 30ish every lift. That is good enough for me.
The Toms River bridge and good luck point is still producing zero's across the board. It seems like they are all being caught on the edge of the channels in 5 feet of water.
We also have some small bluefish in the bay that are keeping the kids busy as well.
Will keep you all posted as the season goes along.. Next week Uncle Luna is on vacation, so I will be making a long day fluke trip and I will have room for more if anyone is interested. Enjoy your summer everyone.
