Title: MDW recap
Post by: JBinNOVA on May 27, 2015, 10:02:32 AM
How's it going guys? Hope you all had a good weekend with some tight lines.

Fared decent myself, blues 24" to 30" but none of the behemoths that make blue fishing worth the risk on the gear. Changed to fish other species after a solid morning chasing the birds on the kayak's maiden voyage. No stripers under the bait schools unfortunately.

Fluke went ok, nothing keep-sized, but healthy fish 12"-16". Nice action in the back bays between Wildwood and Stone Harbor for me. Avalon Jetty (break from the Yak) yielded a very fat and healthy fluke, but only to 16.5".

Had an interesting hookup out of the Yak, had another paddler near me and almost had the fish out of the water but he popped off my bomber A lure before I could grab. I saw a flash of silver and thought small blue or striper, but the other paddler swore he saw the outline of a weakie. Any thoughts on you guys? I will be trying that spot again soon, as no other hook ups in that particular channel.

How did everyone fare in other parts?
