Spearfish 6/28 Fluke
« on: June 29, 2009, 07:44:42 AM »
Fished with my dad, my son and his friend.  We headed right out to some snags at the reef where I had fish a couple of weeks ago.  The first couple of drifts were good and we boxed 2 keepers and 2 sea bass plus several shorts.  Lots of 12" sea bass.  The bite slowed in our area so we wiggled around the edge of the reef looking for better action.  We had a steady catch of shorts with the occasional keeper or sea bass miked in.  I would have liked to fish some deeper water, but with the kids on board it gets tough.  They can handle about 6-8oz. comfortably so I was limited to about 50' depths and less.  We scrapped out 7 keepers with the biggest going 3.5# and 5 sea bass.  The kids had fun and were kept busy with sea robins sharks and sundials.  Best bait was shark belly on a jig.
