Title: Anybody spot albacore?
Post by: DoormatHunter on September 13, 2007, 10:23:47 PM
I am heading out of Belmar on sunday and want to know the best place I should start looking for albacore.  I plan to head north and start chumming with spearing only... Anybody have any action with these line peelers as of yet?  Tight lines...

Brian

Haven't heard anything yet, but I am looking forward to your report.  Let us know if there in yet, if so, they may be my next target.

Hello Brian,

Welcome Aboard.  I am sure there will be a number of people along to fill you in shortly.  I mostly hit the suds and I know that they wont be any where close soon.

I hope you enjoy the site there are some fantastic fishermen and women on here that will be able to answer any question you might have.  So kick off your shoes, grab a cold drink and belly up to the key board and join the fishermen's information highway.

Happy Catching

Paul

Hi Doormathunter,

They were just outside Barnegat Inlet out to the Barnegat Ridge South earlier in the week.

Right now, there are only Bluefish reports. I will post if some of my buddies run into them tomorrow. They are planning on being just outside Manasquan Inlet at first light and head east toward the general direction of the Glory Hole. There are sporadic reports of nice schools of bluefin in and around that area.

I will post when I find out ... I am scheduled to leave on back to back offshore trips tomorrow evening (maybe get one in) so I will only be able to report on a morning bite if it happens.

Good luck and welcome to the site,

Capt. Ed

Hi Brian, welcome to the site.  I am out of Belmar also.  What marina are you in?  I'm in Shark River Yacht Club.  Have I seen you around before, D dock maybe?

I haven't heard anything about the Albies yet, although some guyes have been looking for them without success.

Hi guys thanks for the warm welcome.  I might have to switch to seabass if no one has spotted these albies yet.  But maybe its worth a try. Worst scenario is i catch some big blues.  My boat is out of Belmar Marina, Dock B.  Boy am I sad the fluke season is over. I'll post this weekends trip, have a good one everybody.

Hi DoormatHunter,

They are mixed in with the blues off the Ocean County beaches ... the blues happen to be big and aggressive though.

There are tons of bonito and skip jack out towards the canyons.

There is life everywhere!

A guy at my dock told me that he had some false albies a few miles out from the hirise at Asbury.  Also said he caught a boniter near the bell bouy Shark River inlet.  All on the troll.
