Irish Ayes fluking 9-2

Had a good crew on today. Bob Cole, Bob G, Ralph, George and Dave.

Headed north to fish some broken bottom grounds. Caught some short fluke, no keepers. Tried several different spots and different types of bottom. No one home anywhere.

The water was filled with some type of brownish sediment. No idea of what it was.

Had some ground swells, but nothing big. Water temperature was 72.

With no success north we tried our hand south. Made it to the Sea Girt reef with several stops on the way.

Boated one keeper fluke, 26 inches, just short of 7 pounds on an uncertified digital scale.

Six guys, one keeper, not a good thing. We only had about a dozen or so short fluke today. Seems like something had the fish turned off. Possibly the bottom is stirred up pretty good from the ground swells?

Will be out again tomorrow looking for their hiding place.  TT^

Nice try today.  I was working on a painting today and heard someone calling you on 68 ( I have all my radios in the studio ).  Not sure who it was they said but did not get it.

Nice try and nice catch for the conditions.  Is it sediment in the water, like the water is all churned up or what is like living organisms?  I have read some reports of high influx of salps in the area...by the millions or billions.  Was the brown stuff in the water fouling any of your gear up??

I have been watching Hanna and the track they are projecting is much like the hurricane that flooded Bound Brook a number of years ago.  Just watch out for a cold front if it should develop coming out of the NW .

Just talked with a buddy who fished the tourney with me. He was out onday and found the same conditions, nothing biting only had 3 shorts where on Saturday we had tons of action and 3 keepers. Said wasn't even getting skates/
