Title: 5/9 Evening Shenanigans
Post by: wb on May 10, 2012, 09:40:07 AM
Got a late start, but made it out with Tombo "I got game AND Stretch 25s" for a few drifts til dark, with trolling after. We hoped to hook up with some more stripers, and planned to checkout our usual haunts.

Flat flat flat out in the bay; gnat hatch had them thick and no breeze to speak of.

Tom banged a "2011 justshort" flatty right away; expertly netted I might add. We thought about keeping him to keep the 2012 all keepers streak alive, but at 17.75" he looked tiny compared to the fish we have been getting sofar. We allowed him to resume ambushing bucktails.

Slow night, couple knockdowns on the trollin poles after dark, but no hookups. Saw a few guys trolling, a few others anchored up crackin'; saw no other fish caught.

In hindsight, we shoulda kept Mr. compoundjaw. See ya out there next time.

I was also out last night, just a great night on the water. I bucktailed from 4 to 6 with only 1 short fluke. then headed out front, bunker all over, but was only able to hook up with blues live lining. then trolled back to port (monmouth cove) more blues and 1 bass lost at the boat.
