Saturday Jun 29 Raratin
« on: June 30, 2013, 08:54:07 AM »
Helped my buddy splash his boat in Leonardo. He isipping  there until, hopefully, hs slip in Manasquan is finished being rebuilt from Sandy.  Not really knowing any spotsin the bay snd urrounding area - with chart in hand we kick around on some of the channel edges and caught some shorts, then over by the hook Bob picked up a 19 and at the same time I got a 23.  We took a ride outside and fished between the channel and picked up more shorts. The wind started  building from the south so we came back inside and dragged some bait across the knoll and finally back to the dock.  Once we docked a guy came up to the boat and do a fish survey. He looked at you keepers and said they where southern flounder  :headscra:.  I not sure if he was right or wrong but it didn't sound right to me. Anyway nice day out.

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Yup....Southern  Flounder are usually caught oceanside in our waters....distinct Black Dots (usually 5 if I recall) around the back part of the fish towards the tail.
With that said....if they are 2 seperate species, I see no size or bag limit on southern flounder...
