Title: Barnegat Fishing for Blackies on the Phyllis Ann (With Video)
Post by: BobG on November 29, 2009, 08:46:27 PM
I had the honor of heading out with Hotrod on the Phyllis Ann today for some good ole blackfishing. Joining us were Capt. Joe of the Irish Ayes and Capt. Mike.  We broke the inlet a little on the late side (8:45) and headed out to the Garden State North Reef, at which point the area was flooded with boats already anchored up.  We finally found a spot and anchored in the 2-3 feet seas.

Fishing was somewhat tough, although we managed to boat about 15 keepers.  Capt. Mike took the honor for the biggest, a nice tog that weighed just over 7 pounds.

Aside from all the good old fashioned busting, the highlight of the day came in the late afternoon when we has a pod of porpoises that swam alongside the boat, frolicing about and using our bouy marker as a play toy. It was quite a sight and they hung around for about 10-15 minutes.  Hotrod took some video using his Iphone and I am anxious to see how it came out.

Hotrod will be adding the pictures, and hopefully video to this post.

It was a pleasure fishing with Hotrod, Capt Joe and Capt Mike.  Thanks for letting me tag along, I has a blast.

Here is the Video..  the Dolphins and the bottom shots.  The bottom Camera was pretty cool but filming  screen never works well.. next time I'll have to plug it into the video camera.. plus it was a little bumpy out there so the bottom camera did a lot of bouncing..  but you'll get the idea of how well it actually worked.

Good times with good people. Not a mad dog bite but still a fun day.

Billy, no bass activity down south at all from what we heard.

Thanks again Rod, it was a great time.  t^

Thanks again Rod. I had a great time with a great crowd. Absolutely priceless. That camera was cool can't wait to play with it again. Rod u did good puting the boat on small snags not 100-200' wrecks, not an easy task. Next time let me pick up the crabs so the are alive. I hope u do call and complain about that.

That was our first time playing with the toy.
We did not fine tune it, there was a lot of current, a few tweaks and it will be awesome. The video of it is taking away from it as well. However there is a video output for a media storage device that would give almost 100% of its quality. I will bring it for the Islander trip, if time permits we will send it down.

Nice trip guys.  The video clips were excellent.  Who makes the underwater product and can you share a little on specs, price etc?
