Me and Drew jumped on the boat at 11 am, after breaking the inlet gave Capt. Joe on the Irish Ayes a shout to see what I missed, he didn't have much to report. So we hit a school of bunker right out side Shark River inlet and snagged up a few and dropped a couple to the bottom, NOTHING under them. There was bunker everywhere so thick under the boat my fish finder was only marking 14 feet in 40 feet of water ::) It was an incredible site. We had a short run off on a bunker head but that was it. Then after Capt. Joes phone call and story of a straightened snap swivel we headed to his location to find just more bunker. After several drifts we scored 1 smooth dog fish, 2 skates, 1 small sea robin. NO FLUKE TO BE FOUND. Then around 3:30 just out side the inlet right back where we started the day we were bringing in our baits to make a move when a Striper like to rip the pole out of my hands, My old Penn Long Beach 65 had line peeling off her, the braid like to take my thumb off (No Levelwind on the old girl) and after a short battle we but an 18lb striper on the boat it measured out at around 32 inches. At least we scored for all Drews hard effort he was putting into the day trying to put a nice Striper on the boat.
