Reel Fantasea Charters fishing report
« on: August 24, 2008, 07:36:32 PM »
Well we finally did it ! On a Open boat , regulars Jay Simmons, Ernie Rosenberg
and Wayne Salvi  Team up for not one but TWO Barnegat Bay Grand Slams [ striper,
bluefish, fluke, weakfish ]!!!!! The guys not only got the two slams but managed
11 different species of fish !! including stripers, blackfish , bergals, banded
rudder fish, king fish, shark. weakfish, fluke, bluefish, hickory shad, sea
robbins and seabass ! Our biggest ....weakfish - 23" , ....fluke-22",
........striper- 26" ........ bluefish-25" ........Blackfish [ limit of] - 18"
Along with plenty of ctach and release fish as well .The next morning the Green Briar Fishing club was out for a steady bite on smaller weakfish  and  a good mix of other species including blackfish, seabass, porgies, and snappers . The reels were burning up when a school of cow nose rays passed thru our lines and two rays were hooked ! Both rays headed for the ho rizon on our light tackle rods with one of the rays parting the line when he dumped the spool. The other ray was nearly to the boat when the hook pulled, making for an easy release but spirited battle ! Mike Gries Sr and Jr were out for a slamboree on 2-5lbs bluefish  on light tackle! The guys had non stop action on blitzing blues and "undersized"  fluke  at the inlet . From there we moved around a bit to find a few weakfish to round out the catch. The Brent Burger Party was out for some more sporty action with 2-4lbs blues on light tackle . From there we moved around a bit to find some weakfish action that included a nice 23" weakfish on live peanut bunker while grass shrimping . The guys ended the day with some more catch and release fluke on " Gulp" .     FYI- at present the water
quality is absolutely amazing and it rivals the Caribean Sea for visiblity- Yah
Mon !!!! I have a few dates in Se ptember left , the 12,19,and the 26th either for open boat or private charter. Anyone interested can email or call for the lastest availability .
Best Regards ,
Capt. Steve Purul

Nice catch. With all that variety you would think you were fishing in an aquarium. Good job Captain.  slt
