Title: Roosters Flukin 9-20-2018
Post by: Peterooster on September 20, 2018, 06:23:47 PM
Last Fluke trip for us, weather window was open for light and variable wind. Wind was  blowing from the East making the flags stand out in the harbor, almost went home. Took a ride from the Atlantic Highlands Harbor to the Shrewsbury Channel where the waves were calmer, the short Fluke were plentiful. As the wind laid down somewhat a move to Officers Row provided us with more shorts. We were soon joined by three party boats along with a few private boats fishing in fourteen feet of water which held most of the fish.

The tide took us around the Point of Hook to Sandy Hook Channel by #12 where the water was very rough. The Fluke were bigger here along  with three foot doggie which loved our Bluefish strips and a large Sea Bass on a Killie and two Clear Nose Skate. No keeper Fluke for us.Upon returning to the West end of harbor we saw a yak pulling in nice size Fluke, this is where we should have started!!  Pete
