Last years gas?

So, I didn't use the boat all season. thud And the way I see it, I may not until spring. Problem is,the tank was topped off and Stabil put in it last fall. Am I going to be able to save the fuel for next year? or begin the process of removal? rgmn rgmn

no real good answer. lol. If you filled up on the road, I'd start pumping or aleast take a sample to start

Sta-Bil is good for 12 months. You might want to see if the fuel is still good. If so, use it in you truck or car, refill the boat, and treat with Sta-Bil again, and make sure you get out for the spring 2013 run.

No one wants to face that problem. However, I would take a sample in a GLASS jar to determine water water content is in the gas.Then,determine your next step as to draining your tank( use gas in truck and cars and burn it off. If you do keep the gas in till Spring be sure to have a few extra fuel filters to change out, or drain the fuel seperator frequently by opening the lower plug into a safe container.
Not easy working with contaminated gas.Could create other problems.

I have taken my mixed gas and dumped in my cars.   granted not a full tank full but 3-4 gallons in a 12-15 gallon tank at a time.  been doing it for yers.  never a problem.  i like to think of it as cylinder lube!!

Careful with that.  If you have an older carburated engine you probably could get away with this.  If you have an EFI 2 stroke or 4 stroke then I would not advise this at all.

if it is capped off to the rim, no moister will get in there.  If it has Stabil in it, even better.  All I would do would add a little more stabil and your good to go.

 whs the popular belief is that the gas seperates and the water sinks to the bottom. while this is sometimes true most of the time its from tank condensation.  The warm outside air goes into the tank via the vent hits the cool tank walls and condenses into water. Especially on the eastern coast because of the high relative humidity. Learned thar in my blue seal class. t^ same is true with metal or plastic tanks. And over the winter its the opposite cold air hits the warm tank and you know it

Tank was topped off prior to storage w/stabil added, might I add so full it was coming out the vent

I filled my boat last October and put Stabil in it. Ran fine this July and October. Got it down to 3/4 of a tank this October and put it away for the winter. I will fill it in the spring, should be good to go.

Rule if thumb, fill the take before the winter storage as full as you can to prevent the moister in the tank. The stabilizer takes care of that moister, but filling the tank is an added precaution.
