Title: Gave it a TRY, Island Beach State Park
Post by: Luna Sea 5 on August 05, 2007, 07:51:27 PM
Went down to Seaside to keep an eye on my house.  Met up with my brother and a friend to give the surf a try on Saturday.  Bait at Betty and Nick Tackle and headed for the suds.  Fished 7pm to about 10pm.  Surf fishing and I do't get along to good.  I never had a good outing and Saturday was the same.  I wasn't there really to fish, just kill some time and relax and whatever I catch would just be a plus...  Alot of bits by something small, but nobody home....  It does feel great though, sitting on the beach in the dark and listening to the suds...

Hi Nick,

Funny ... IBSP treats me badly (fishing wise) but I love that place.

Best wishes,

Ed

Hi All,

So far this year it has been a 50/50 summer for me at IBSP.  We caught a bunch of fish but so far all were small.  I wasen't able to get out this weekend I am hoping to try is later in the week.

They say back by the Sedge Island they are catching blues, striper's, and weakies on small surface lures from kayaks.  I have to give that a try maybe next year once everything settles into place.

Happy Catching

Paul

It's fluking time at the Island.  I haven't been there in a few weeks (work), but my Pop has been hammering fluke (Bucktail Joe from B&N fishing reports).

Here's a nice one my Uncle took Sunday..don't know the perticulars though...

Wow thats great...

I was there on Sunday just to get away from things and saw a nice weakfish brought over the jetty on a small surface popper.

The surf was to rough so we just set up the chairs and relaxed.  No room off the jetty as the waves were breaking over the jetty right there in the pocket.

Happy Catching

Hi NJetty,

I always wondered who "Bucktail Joe" was (LOL - John never divulged that secret to me).

Thanks for the report ... get out there guys ... they are probably right at your feet.

Best wishes,

Capt. Ed

Just talked to my Pop, this pig weighed in at 12 pounds, taken on the inlet side of the Jetty.
