Kayak Fishing 2014..........Looking Ahead.
« on: December 27, 2013, 12:50:26 PM »
well kayak fishing for 2013 is in the books for me and I have set my thoughts in full gear to 2014.

After looking back through the past few years.....I have found that most of my Bigger fish have been caught fishing the back bay with my kayak.

I'm planning on fishing the back waters much more this season....There is so much I have learned about the back bay and so much I really know nothing about.....and to be honest its driving me nuts.

I do enjoy the days of surf fishing or going on a friends boat.....But even then I'm thinking about being 6" off the water in my kayak and getting soaked with the slap of a tail.

There is just something about kayak fishing that I can't seem to get enough of.....

Looking forward to another great season with all of you on this site.

May all your fishing dreams come true

Thanks for your reports and inputs this past season. Fishing is always a learning experience. The more ofter you go, the more you realize how much you are still learning.

Looking forward to your reports next season.  chrz

im with you 100% on the excitement of kayak fishing, i got my biggest yak fluke at 5 lbs last year and caught 2 brown sharks that were about 3.5-4.5 feet long all were back bay, i've caught bigger fluke and sharks but the excitement of getting them on the yak is on a whole different level than anything else

So True........Hard to explain sometimes just how if feels fishing that close to the water.....A 2 pound fish can tow a kayak...Over 50 pounds OH Boy.....Hold on tight.

I spent a lot of time out on the water in the kayak this past year. Dave & Paul thank you so much for the good insight on what not to do and what to do.
So i have decided to re think the way i set up my yak, i never made anything permanent till i could see how i like it, most of the time it was spot on, but always room for improvements. I still don't use a crate to store gear. Dave & Paul you had it correct with KISS Keep It Simple Stupid. If i go out for a specific species i bring that type of gear. lunch and ice tea is in the back of the yak so plenty of space.
Look forward to going back out in the spring for some Stripers.
With any luck this year i will be able to hook up with some people on the forum and go out.
Have a great season everyone.
