Fish Monger Sat 12/18 Joe Jigs B-Day Blackfish Limit
« on: December 18, 2010, 09:47:19 PM »
Joe Jigs had the boat chartered today for his birthday... Tony Triggs, Bob Bates, Reel Ron, Big Don and Steve rounded out todays crew.

Got Set up n Started off with Bites right away... B day boy was on fire with his limit pretty quickly... few other fish started coming up but it def was a picky bite. Bite was ok but They would only bite in little sections... seemed like they were a little slow and ya had to put the bait in front of their nose to get a good bite.

Nonetheless we picked away putting fish in the box... Worked it hard for 30 Keepers to 6lbs before it died.

Made a short move and it took a bit but we started picking again. After awhile the action seemed to die. Then suddenly a few big ones came out to play Tony had One at 8lbs, Steve 7lbs.

I was fishing from the flybridge without a bite for 20 min when one just swam away with the sinker turned out to be a real beauty just over 13lbs!!!

Fish were there... just not eating well... few fish would come in flurries

Made a drop deeper and finished with a nice flurry to cap off a Boat Limit and released a couple for another day.

Tough Bite But the guys worked for a nice box of fish...

Congrats to the Birthday Boy Joe Jigs who was a showboater today and was high hook with around 20 Keepers ( Only taking a limit)... A nice Birthday present!!!

By days end we wound up with 50+ Keepers with everyone taking home a limit and releasing a couple for another day also 2 Codfish one was a keeper.

Also Caught this weird creature??? I seen Sea Raven n sculpin but this one looked different?Pic attached

Thanks again guys!!!

Beautiful fish Jerry.  Way to get in on the action.

Definitely in the Sculpin family.  If I'd have to guess.....Shorthorn Sculpin.  Not common to our waters, usually inhabits waters of the Gulf of Maine, but strays have been known to be found as far south as NJ
