Departed Highlands on my buddies boat at 3:45 for the grounds. Ran 61 miles and set out the spread by 6:03 am. Set out an 8 rod spread(no outriggers by the way so i impressed myself) and didnt take long to come tight on our first Tuner. Went about 30 lbs and decided to let it go. Reset the spread...and trolled..and trolled...and trolled to the point we were thinking we should have that first fish. Played and tweeked the spread and another rod goes down....monster bluefish. Finally got it tweeked and had a mix of blues and Tuners when the short rigger goes down hard and james has to settle in for this one...15 minutes later a nice fat 45# hits the deck and in the box it goes..couple more tuna and blues adhered for the barn at 1 p.m. 153nm was the trip mileage today. Green Machine Spreader bars, purple and black bars and a mix of green/rainbow daisy chains produced all fish. We had some ballys in the spread but no takers. Had porpoise and turtle life around the temp breaks. All in all.... a beautiful day to be it there.
