hello
« on: August 01, 2008, 12:14:33 AM »
Hi everyone!

I try to avoid forums as much as possible. After looking for some info on the mantoloking bridge (trying to figure out why I constantly get skunked the) I found the site and have since been very impressed. Rather than your usual " my secret spot- 50# bass" topics found in many other local fishing forums, I found a genuine effort to help others catch fish which is a breath of fresh air. I look forward to reading and contributing to the forums. I will constantly be looking for information because I am new to fishing ocean county, but surely no stranger to the sport. I've been using various techniques that i've gathered from boat fishing with my father in raritan bay over the past 10 years, but have had little success.

Well..... tight lines for all and thanks for creating a friendly environment for local fishing discussion.

Welcome Aboard captainbailey,

It is defiantly one of the most friendly sites out there.  The guys bend over backwards to help ion any way possible.  It sounds like you will fit right in.  Many of us just got tired of all the nonsense on a lot of the other sites plus being put down for asking questions not to mention spot burning.

I was one of the lucky ones to find this site when it was young and I have never left.  Yeah we have our share of drama but nothing that we can't handle.  Over time we will grow to become one of the premier sites on the web.  We do not make waves and we try not to step on toes but the amount of people that have signed up lately must say something.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask if you have anything to add please do so.

BTW the Manesquan Bridge is a hot spot right now.  They are catching crabs galore, and the weakfish are starting to bite.  You can use any bait just as long as it is pink for the weakies.  Fin-S is your best bet.  Remember there are two channels the main one out in the middle and a secondary channel where the marina dumps out into that part of the bay (South east corner of the pier).

Good Luck. grtn

Again Welcome Aboard.

Happy Catching

Paul

Glad you found us,make yourself at home like the rest of us. I fish that bridge often with great sucess any questions feel free to ask. I have never caught any monsters there but lots of quality fish. In the fall, winter and spring I am always there at night. You could even fd me there on some summer night or during the day crabbing with my daughter. Happy catching buddy and welcome aboard.

I would appreciate some help fishing that area. Everyone I talk to assures me that the bridge holds fish  5hrug I'll probably give it another shot   tom. nite. Threw fin-s for about 3 hrs during the afternoon and only came up with a half a bait once. that was the extent of my action there today. Im now assuming its only a night game there. It's a bad love affair with that bridge.  :'(

I would just like to clarify that I am NOT a captain. While ordering a catalog from cabelas one night I didn't want to use my name so i decided to use my dogs name, Bailey. While filling out the form, they asked for a prefix so i thought captain was most suitable. Girlfriend says Im nuts. But when I get junk mail for captain bailey, it always makes its way to the fridge

I just didn't want to mislead anyone.  t^
