I was wondering how far is the Gulf Stream from say Point Beach. Where is 1000 FM. I assume all of this is beyond the Canyons. Or not? I also hear 70 west. Or east of 70 west. I'm just curious to know where these places are. I love the sea.
Thank you all.

Ask me about the Raritan bay to sandy hook area.
Sorry Im not to savy with the offshore lingo.

T Gulf Stream is roughly about 105 miles off the coast of Cape May. This may change from year to year though. In our area one would look for the eddies that spin off the GS and head towards the NY Bite as the GS starts its turn to the North and then the North East and out to sea. These eddies are rich in all kinds of sea life and are very productive.

70° West longitude is an imaginary line on the earth running from North Pole to South Pole; roughly through the tip of Cape Cod.
It's about 210mi due east of Point. East of that would be further.

I know the Gulf Stream is close to Hatteras Island. There is a boat out of Oden's Dock that has awesome catches of sea bass, triggers, snappers. 19 degrees here....... Hatteras sounds pretty good right now.
