Title: Cleaning Reels and Making Rigs
Post by: Capt Craig on January 20, 2009, 12:56:25 PM
OK, the boat has been out of the water now for just over a month and I have the shakes. So I have for the last couple weekends been taking apart all the reels and cleaning them and giving them a touch of lube. I have 4 more reels to go and they will be ready for the 2009 season.

When they are done I'll start tying knots and making rigs. That way I don't need to scramble to do it while on a charter. Just open a rig box and pull out what I need. No fuss no muss. After all the boat will back in the water in just 2 1/2 short months.

Pretty much April is when the spring run of Bass will get started in the Delaware Bay and that rolls into the Black Drum bite in May.

Got to be ready to go. This time of the year I spend a great deal of time in the garage smoking cigars, tying knots, cleaning reels and making plans for the new season. Man I can't Wait

Sounds good got to keep busy or this is what happens  nts

I am working on my list as well-- going to contract out the soda blast of the bottom then refinish with barrier coat and ablative.

My sweetie said she'd re-do all the teak if only I can remove it- maybe this weekend...

Nothing better than putting a plan in operation that will make the fishing season less stressful. Good work.  t^

nice, me too. make sure you keep the reels inside before their first use to maintain the integrity of the grease

Good point blynch, actually my garage has a heater in it and I keep it set at about 52. When I work out there I bump it up to about 60 to take the edge off that makes it nice to do my work in there even when the hawk is lurking outside. All my gear is snug as a bug in a rug.
