Folks,
Below is a link for some proposals for the 2009 Summer Flounder situation. The New Jersey page is #52
Plus there is Black Sea Bass and Porgy information. The Fluke is broken down by state.
My opinion? Government wants to wipe out the Summer Flounder fishery. 18 or 18.5 is a breeding female and we all know it. I think the real big and the real small should go back in the drink. We should be able to keep a fair amount of fluke between 16 and 17 inches, I guess. And I assume 8 would be the bag. I'd rather see 6.
I thank Rod for being a supporter of www.ssfff.net as am I.
Don't forget. Our tax money pays for this garbage.

What ever happened to the proposal for coastwide regs? That still on the table??
Didnt NY bring up a law suit against the feds??

Its unfair that the Raritan bay has been having split regulations. Its almost impossible to tell if you are in NY or NJ waters. The entire bay should have the same regulations. Sometimes I catch keeper fluke in NJ 18" and move on to the NY side 21 1/2". If I get checked by the dept of fish and game the only way to tell the difference between the fish I caught would be the little sweatsuits and gold chains on the Staten Island and Brooklyn fish. ;D
I can say this because I am half Italian and grew up in Brooklyn. So fogetaboutit. TT^
