Being that we are 1 month away, does anyone have any special tips for making their Flounder Chum.
You know, that certain ingredient that really draws them in? I basically use the standard corn, clams, dogfood, etc. and I'm in need of something extra to sweeten the pot!

freeze old bread, stinky cat food, and canned corn mixed together into a log.

rabbit food or hatchery trout pellets work pretty good....mixed or dry doesnt matter!!!!!!!!!!!

Just my opinion here and there are lots of them for flounder chum.
I cut all flounder bellies open to see what from the chum they are actually eating... I grind fresh clams that i salt myself (for consistency) mix it with lots of corn and freeze. People say they have a problem passing corn but i dont believe it as the crap mussel shell no problem... this is for the chum pot...
I stay away from rice and dogfood pellets etc because i never see it in their stomach. So it just makes you look like you are chumming heavier than you are but they are always filled with the corn sometimes you almost think they at every corn nibblet. so i just started adding more corn with the clam. Another plus is the crabs dont bother it as can be a problem in shark river.
Chumlogs (store bought type) are just grinded belies frozen in water. Basically a clam bellie ice cube. They work but to chum effective and heavy you could go through a box on an all day trip. Making you you own is cheaper, better and goes a longer way.
Over the side nuttin gets the going in my opinion like GREEN mussels (bronchitis snot type). We just break them up mix with corn and throw over the side up current and really bomb them when the tide slows up.Many times this creates the big flurrie you will have been waiting for. We also bust fresh clams and black mussels if we have them.
Flounder fishing is not cheap for what you save in fuel you will burn up in chum and worms. And if you can get tape worms forgaboutit!!!
Add 1 flat worms, 2 anchors, and hopefully have a great flounder catching day.

I am making my 200 logs next week ,I dont mix the corn into my frozen logs because I dont want brown corn in there ,I add it ass I am packing them pot .I make rice bombs w/ some added smells to them that they seem to love .I never had luck as jerry said w/ just rice but w/ some added smells it is in most of there bellies .I bring about 20 logs or more every trip ,never be cheap w/ this kind of fishing .I had a guy last year show up w/ 3 logs and a dozen worms ,I had to leave my boat at the ramp and go to the store to get more .

Always fun getting the chum ready for the season!!!
Will be a real shame if the fishery takes a closure next year

Extra additions to any chum mix (everyone swears theirs is the best) is clam juice and/or bunker oil. Yes, I agree, RUN from store bought chum logs. Make your own, you will feel even better when you catch fish. <'(((((><

k ive never made chum before, i just baught my first boat at the end of last years season. if i am going to make flounder chum/logs, what are the steps to do it.
buy the ingreidiants, put it in water, and freeze it? or is there more to it?

"Flounder" in this case is reffering to Winter Flounder, which are out of season now. These days, the flounder that are targeted are Summer Flounder. Chumming for Summer Flounder (Fluke) is not common.
