In an effort to save some $$ this year in uncertain economic times, I decided to keep the boat in Tuckerton vs Keyport this year.
Less than half the price and a change of scenery...looking forward to it!
I've done a little fishing up near Barnegat Inlet but this area will be totally new to me.
-
It should work out fine.Get to know the locals.
-
Talk to Capt. Mike and Hareball that's their center of the universe.
-
let us know how you do
we will be back in keyport for a return engagement this year
-
I hope to be able to take out some people from here once I get things dialed in.
-
That should not take you to long, good luck.

Cool B&B! t^ Lots of good fishing down in Great Bay. Good luck! ;D
-
I guess I'm trading in Bunker and Killies for Spot and Grass Shrimp. ;D
-
As long as your able to fish somewhere, it's all good.. t^ We'll be in Keansburg again, so if ya need a R-bay fix, just give a holler.. you'd be welcome aboard with us chrz
-
Thanks TB. I'm sure I'll be taking you up on that!
-
Good luck.
Bring lots and lots of bug spray. The greenheads down that way are horrendous.
-
Tuckerton has some Great Fishing.. But the green heads will make you wish you were in Barnegat t^
-
There is good fishing down south, BNB! I don't know much about Monmouth County fishing where you used to fish, but I grew up fishing the Barnegat Bay. Good Bay access down there with lots of good fishing. Don't switch those bunker and killies completely for spot and grass shrimp because the stripers and fluke are plentiful down that way as well...just carry less bunker and killies and more grass shrimp and spot ;D! Some nice sod banks and holes with nice weakfish too.
Either way, it is water and it has fish ;)! If it saves you some money...sounds good to me. Bug spray will be a necessity. You need a force field around your boat so they don't carry you away!
Good Luck!
TT^

I did think about the greenheads. I'm hoping they won't be so bad out in the middle of the bay.
In Keyport it's the knats that torture you in the marina unless there's a breeze.
-
Awwwww! They're not that bad! Just make sure you wear a big heavy sweater and some nice thick corduroy pants this summer! ;D

roflaDid a lot of camping down at Sea pirate camp ground and they drove us out of there rgmn rgmn nice pic HR TT^ SO TRUE

I'm down in Tuckerton. Fishing is good down there - greenheads are bad. We'll have to hook up some time. Capt. Ron is another good guy to talk with about Tuckerton/great bay
-
Just happened to come across this picture, good luck... :P
-
rofla Nice Pic Paul. Yes Some good fishing if you know where to go.. most of the locations are public knowledge. The LE Reef is a cool 4 mile shot right out the inlet.. then you have a nice shot at Garden State South...and the red tower.
LE Inlet and grassy Channel in the bay just to name a few. always a place to fish if the outside is snotty.
Great Bay Junky, Capt Ron and Capt Mike.. just to name a few.. have this area pretty well worked out t^

Welcome to your new fishing waters bassnblues. In the Spring AND EARLY SUMMER we do HAVE the NO-SEE UMS DOWN HERE, BELIEVE ME. 2 years ago we decided it was time to make Mystic Island our full time residence. I've learned alot about there way of fishing down here [ I grew up fishing Sandy Hook, Raritan Bay ] but could stand to learn a bunch more. I did however learn alot about the waterways. When your down here, give me a shout. I'd be more than willing to show you around if it helps ya out. Where are you keeping your boat? Capt.Matt

Very Cool Capt Matt t^

Thanks a lot Capt Matt. I'll definitly give you a shout.
I'll be at Tuckerton Marine Services on Green St. I figure I'll be putting it in the water around mid April.
I'm very much looking forward to the change of scenery and learning a new area.
Here's the first question...I hear a lot about fishing Gravelling Point from shore. Is it possible to get to that area by boat or is it too shallow?
