Title: Tuna Permit
Post by: Paijo on April 02, 2009, 09:41:29 AM
You need a permit to boat a Bluefin, no? Where do I get this? I scoured the NJ Fish and Wildlife website, got my Bonus Striper, Crab Pot and shellfish permits, but found nothing on tuna.

Help.

Thanks!!

The permit is for the boat, not an individual fieherman. It is not something every person on board needs. It is not transferable from boat to boat.

Print out the regulations while you are there, and keep them handy. <'((((><

Also keep an eye on their site once in a awhile. The NMFS can change the regs at a moments notice and its our job as fishermen to be aware of the change.

shark and tuna are under the hms recreational permit. you only need a permit for dolphin and wahoo if you are a charter boat and hold an hms charter/headboat permit
