I just found out that JCAA decided to cut Atlantic City as a port from their annual fluke tournament for economic reasons. This really irks me and will preclude a lot of anglers from our area from participating. I will really think twice about supporting JCAA efforts in the future.

I don't think you can blame the JCAA. They have lost some sponsors and therefore had to cut back on the ports, therby cutting their payouts. It is hard to run a tournament this size without sponsors.
Have you also noticed that they are not giving a boat away as the grand prize? The grand prize is now goinog to be $10,000 instead of the boat. Still not a shabby prize for not even having to catch a fish.
For the money paid for the tournament, it is a bargain and a good time and you will be supporting a worthy organization.

It is hard times for all of us the JCAA cut out two Ports AC and JErsey City..they did it after studying the amount of boats participating. AS Joe said they have lost a lot of Sponsors, unfortunately as the economic trend continues the belt will be pulled tighter and tighter.
I would not let the sour you on the JCAA, they do a ton of work for us and at times have been the lone voice on our behalf.
I am sure their decisiion was made with much thought and a lot of pain

Prize wise.... NOT the best bang for the buck... but the organization does do good work for all fishermen....... slt

Prize wise, not bad at all if you cash in on the 10Gs on Friday evening. ;D
BTW, congrats on your placing for your port. t^

These are terrible economic times. I believe they do the best with what they have.

Thanx Joe....
I hear ya on the 10g's.... but that just makes it a raffle and not a fishing contest... 5hrug
Would gladly trade my nj angler mag prize for the 10th place prize which was free entry into next years event....
