Got a new rod at the end of last season and it didn't have a hook keeper. While I was getting by gear ready for the year I had an idea. I used a tie-wrap with a screw attachment and wrapped it around the reel seat. It worked so good that I added one to all my rods that did not have hook keepers.
I finally figured out how to downsize. heres the setup.

I use these. They can be purchased at most B&Ts.
