Title: Cast Net Comparison Betts VS Percy
Post by: Skunked on June 03, 2007, 07:32:25 PM
I had the opportunity today to throw a $63 Betts 16' diameter cast net. I liked it better and caught just as many bunker as I do in my $210 Percy 20' diameter net. It was easier to load and throw.

Also since I had the Percy I had blue chew holes through it and almost lost it when I got it snagged on the bottom and broke several brail lines getting it un-snagged. I have been able to fix it, but would rather be have these problems with a cheaper net.

So I may suggest save the money and buy the Betts net, you can replace it three times and still be a head of the game.

It was Banana Boat Dan's net and he is going to send me the exact description of the Betts net and I will post it.

To be fair maybe if the bunker are deep the Percy may sink fast and thus do a better job.

I have the betts 10' 1" mesh net and dont have a problem with it. I believe it is 1.2lbs per foot. I dont know what the percy is. I am far from an expert but I think you need at least 1# of lead per foot.
