Fished the Atlantic Star today since the Dorothy B didnt head out in the AM due to weather conditions. Weather was more rainy this morning than it was around 10-12. Me, my girlfreind, my sister and her boyfreind went on the 8 am 1/2 day fluke trip. I want to say maybe 8-10 keepers on the boat ? About 20 - 25 people on the boat. 3 keepers between us 4, biggest 18 1/2 inches. Caught a few 1/2 inch shy.
My girlfreind and I, both had a nice hit, set the hook.. Was reeling in, she started reeling in because she felt she had something. Same fluke, took both hooks! Caught the same fish at the same time, never saw that before, pretty neat. Anyway, went home with some nice fat fillets.
I didnt realize I couldnt grab the boats 10 foot net, got yelled at for a second, 5hrug. What if my girlfreind or I have a 7 lb fluke on my pole and the guys on the other side of the boat ? I paid 40$+ to get on the boat, I'm not losing fish. Right?
Anyway, I took a few pictures of the fish, I'll have them up tomorrow, only 2 fish in the pictures because my sisters boyfreind caught his with about 90 seconds left on the last drift.
Cant wait for the Bingo with Luna next sunday! TT^ chrz

Nice report Mark... t^
I'm with you....If I call for the net and there's no mate around in a reasonable amount of time or their too busy helping others, I'll do it myself...especially if that flukes a big one.
-
Nice Mark. It sounds like you guys had a good time. I will be going out on the Sea Hawk Wed. morning and am looking forward to the trip. I know the boat will be crowded as it is an American Legion trip with food and everything else that goes along with it.
So I might get in a little fishing a lot of eating and some drinking. Plus a whole lot of kidding.
It sounds like you have a keeper there for a girlfriend. Any girl that can fish alongside a guy and keep up with him is a keeper in my book.
Happy Catching

Was that before or after the 3 rings of marriage: Engagement Ring, Wedding Ring, SuffeRing thud rofla hhppy chrz?

rofla rofla hhppy
Im not with the wedding, or the engagment rings yet... I dont want to say the SuffeRing is there either. Shes very good and easy going with things I want to do, especially fishing. She'll fish in the rain, maybe complain a little during it if she doesnt catch anything, but I know shes having fun. She deals with me pretty good, even during times when I have bad anxiety. Ive had some seroius anxiety problems daily for about 6 years now, just got off prozac as a matter of fact I am getting better. But anyway dont want to bore you about that, thanks for reading my report! Cannot wait to fish on the BINGO this sunday (thanks to Nick) t^

Mark I can remember when you first came on the site it seemed like everything bothered you especially not catching a thing for a long time but we all told you to hang in there and have patience and you hung on. Look at you now, Mr. Angler. Good for you keep up the good work and it was nice meeting you and your cousin last year at the wall at the inlet.
Maybe this year we can fish together for real.
Happy Catching

Thanks Paul, I wish I was Mr. Angler, im not quite there yet, not sure if I'll ever be, but ill sure try. I love fishing, and I basically learned from all of you guys on the site how to get better and better everytime I go at fluke fishing, and others. At least my girlfreind thinks im the best at fishing! t^
Fish On!

Never touch the net. nosmly Keep cool and keep the fish just under the surface. It's the mates' job and they will come to you. If you attempt to net the fish yourself and hit someone else's pole or miss the fish yourself, then there will be complaints about that. If you do net the fish but get tangled then you can be throwing a monkey wrench into the works...say a child has a fish of a lifetime on, but they can't net it cause you took the net or dropped it. thud
Not saying anything direct against you, just in general. They're there to net, sometimes you have to have a little patience. Sometimes they're waiting for the person that calls for the net everytime they hook a fish and it's just a searobin. Be patient, call for the net nice and loud, keep the fish under the surface and make sure your drag is set correctly or even back off on it.
Heck I worked as a fill-in deckhand and I still won't touch the net.
That asides, nice trip TT^ Also nothing like having the woman you love/like enjoy fishing along side you. chrz

i didnt take my son on sunday because it was forcast as 5-7 ft seas and 20knot winds..did we get lied to??..lol...we are going to try this sunday,,should we go on the atlantic star or capt.rons fisherman??/....whatcha guys think??
-
mmmdrum, atlantic star was pretty good... ive never been on the fisherman.... i liked the dorothy B,they were my favorite party boat crew so far... somethings that bother me are when im on a party boat, and no ones catching anything for at least 40 minutes and we dont move... just blow the horn and lets move on already... 5hrug nosmly
