Fished with Pete Novello on Friday & Spanky on Saturday morning finding the tube & worm bite wide open. We had fish everywhere we went but somehow managed to drop all of the real big ones.
Pete had 2 large fish come unbuttoned Spankyn lost one to a lobster pot and had a 40lb fluoro leader break clean off after a huge run. I came the closest getting a fish that was 40-45" right to the boat for 2 looks before she just popped the hook at the net.... Arg.... :banghead:
But besides the heartaches we had dozens of nice bass from 26-35" without getting molested by any bluefish. We even trolled into a couple of excellent topwater blitzes and had fish on my T-Man poppers.
Once the bass action died saturday morning Spanky put me on a couple nice fluke on his first couple drifts. He's gotten pretty good at getting the fluke thats for sure.
