Title: Shrewsbury Rocks
Post by: rbvasey on September 10, 2009, 04:49:19 PM
Hey Guys, going to take the wife out this weekend (ocean conditions permitting)for some Blue Fishing @ the Shrewsbury Rocks.  Any suggestions on what lures / bait I should pick up before heading out?  Done this on party boats but never myself.

Chunk Bunker and drift back Chunks on lines....I let two drift with no weight and then put 3 oz on two and lower down about 2/3 through water column.

AVA 47, Crippled Herring and Deadly Dicks have been working read for jigging

Lots of BLues at the Rocks, last three trips there have done fantastic on Choopers to 14 lbs. Most of the time the fish are down and no birds are working.

Set up chunking or a chum slick and you'll be in the money. Once you get the fish in you can jis them at the boat. Or as WB said go on the troll, or look for reads and start jigging

Good Luck.

Also Raritan Bay is loaded with Blues to 5-7 lbs
