Title: We need your Help! Tommy Hare, age 7, needs your support. Please Read
Post by: Capt. Mike on September 26, 2009, 10:30:32 PM: Tommy Hare is Bob Hare AKA "Hareball"'s nephew.
He is also my nephew-in-law. This is a sad, horrible situation for such a young boy to be faced with.

Here is his story:

THOMAS RYAN HARE was born on August 6, 2002. He is the first son of Tom and Dawn Hare. He has a younger brother Dean Patrick who was born on February 4, 2004. He and his brother are very close and get along great (most of the time) :) Tommy just turned seven years old.

Tommy just finished Kindergarten this past school year at Horbelt Elementary School in Barnegat, NJ. He loves going to school and made lots of friends. He enjoys playing soccer and T-ball with his friends. Lately he has been a big fan of video games - he loves to play the Wii with his brother, Nintendo DS and his PSP. Mario Brothers and Sonic are his favorites among others! He also likes to color, do puzzles, play with Bakugan, X-Men/Wolverine toys, and anything to do with animals and dinosaurs. He wants to be a veterinarian when he grows up so that he can help all animals.

This past Summer has been a nightmare for the family as Tommy started complaining of pain and developing a slight limp. After many doctor visits and tests Tommy was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Neuroblastoma. He is currently being treated at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he is undergoing chemotherapy with a complete road map of scheduled treatments and surgery to come. The doctors have an aggressive form of treatment that will take place over the next several months and we have faith and confidence that he will respond well to the treatment and be healthy again very soon.
The family would like to thank everyone for all of their support during this difficult time. Words cannot express how grateful they are to everyone for everything they have said and done for them.

Tommy and his family are going through some hard times as you could only image. The medical treatments and travel are not only physically and emotionaly challenging, but it brings with it a huge financial impact. This is where we can help. So please show your support and "TEAM UP FOR TOMMY" by joining us for this benefit dinner on October 17th. ALL money from ticket sales and raffle drawings will go directly to the family. The dinner and raffle prizes are being donated by generous local businesses.

Benefit Dinner to be held October 17th at Saint Mary’s Church in Manahawkin.
Doors open at 5:30pm. Dinner from 6-9. Raffle Drawings will start 7:00pm

We will be having prizes and gift baskets along with a 50/50 drawing…

This is not some cracked foundation or some little league fund raiser.

This is for a little boy that you have a chance to offer him a better quality of life. Something is better than nothing...

Also the donations from so many business that understood the need for this family.. from the NY Giants, The Phila Eagles, The Borgota.. The Hilton in AC.. and at least 50 other large business that donated items for the Auction.

Capt. Bob's trip.. and Capt Carl's trip.. I happened to be filming when they were calling out Capt Carl's Trip. Bucktail Bob really wanted to Win this t^

It's a travesty that Tommy's family has to even concern themselves with how to pay their medical bills when faced with such a tremendous challenge. In spite of that, it was inspiring to see a community coming together to help them out this way! Great job! t^

The dinner was great and the donations were amazing!! I really wish I hit that 50/50 but either way it was so nice of the person that won to donate half that money back. TT^
