New to the forum. Been reading it for a while though and have gotten some great info, so thanks! This is going to be my first time fishing the fall run, after becoming addicted (I guess you could say) to stripers after I caught my first one last spring. I caught probably 40 stripers throughout the spring and a bunch of blues off Sandy Hook. And now I can't stop thinking about Stripers, I mean I even dream about them!
Anyway, I've read a bunch of books and different forums, and I guess I'm just wondering the best baits for the fall. Live eels? Sandworms? Peanut bunker? Lures? I'll probably be surfcasting somedays, and off my boat others. Any input is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
P.S. Was throwing spoons and crippled herring off the hook today. Pulled in 3 blues (all probably around 18-24 in) and a Northern Stargazer.

Welcome Big AL. Yes it is an addiction but of a good kind.Plenty of great guys here, so enjoy your stay. I'm no expert, just a fisherman like you,so here some stuff that works for me:
Fall Bass: Look for the birds and some useful lures are the Avas, Crippled Herrings,Hopkins and similar metals.2-5oz. are a start.
Plugs: pencil poppers, surface and divers, metal lips and such. Colors:Blue over white, black over white and school bus are a good start.
Boat and Bait: Bunker and Eels.Look for the lumps and bumps and schools of bait the bass will be around(blues too).
The guys on the site will jump in with their favorite stuff once they read your post.
Good luck,Catch em up, and Pass it along to others.AJ.

Welcome Big Al, I have been addicted to stripers for so long and it never gets old. The fall run should get under way soon as a few big girls have been showing up already. This should be a good year off the surf.
My haunts are in Ocean County and IBSP my home waters. Good luck this fall and be sure to post some pictures.
Happy Catching
Paul
