I dropped my Spheros 5000 off at Grumpy's about a month and a half ago. I received a call a few weeks later telling me it was ready for pick-up. Well i didn't get around to getting there to pick up my "spare" reel until sunday night. I went in to pick it up and...it wasn't there. No record of it. So after a few minutes of hanging around the gentleman there decides to give me a brand new reel.

The reason I feel the need to share my experience is in to no way slander their store, but rather to commend them. I have never experienced such genuine compassion from a merchant. In my experience working retail for 10 years, it has always been the real a-holes that get their way by threatening merchants. Not the case. I explained that there was no urgency but he insisted that I take the reel. The shop is about 25 minutes away from my home, but I will make it a point to go there for all of my fishing needs. Thank you to the staff at Grumpys. Proof that an unfortunate instance, if cured with outstanding customer service, can create a life-long customer.

You always hear nothing but good things about the folks there! TT^
-
Very cool! That's great customer service! t^
Was it a new Spheros they gave you, or a different reel?
-
Very cool. That is one of the reasons I go there for all my fishing needs. Paul, Mike and Tommy are a great bunch of guys. Their personalities are unique to say the least but their service well lets say it is top notch.
I have been trying to get Paul to jump on the site especially now that he has had his computer optimized. If you go in and talk to Paul keep putting the bug in his ear. I know he and the store crew would be an asset to all of us.
Happy Catching

Good Stuff t^ I was looking for a bashing ;D But this is much cooler ;D

I guess they don't take thier name seriously.
-
Nope, except Tommy (AKA GRUMPY). But once you get to know him he is a wealth of knowledge.

The guy I was dealing with was about average height and a crew cut, his name slips my mind.
I got a brand new, sealed, right off the shelf spheros 5000

Great story.
I've always been happy with Grumpys

i dont have a single bad experience with grumpy's, and been hitting them up for some time. i will definently go out of my way to visit their store over the others, and has been that way back to when it was dolphins, and he was up the street a lil bit.
Cause, nothing beats a Grumpy clam

Damn,if that's a Grumpy reaction, imagine what he might have given you on a good day. rofla

Didn't realize he used to own Dolphin. Wasn't that the one that had another B&T right next to them?
I always thought it was weird that there were two B&Ts right next door to each other. nts

That's some great customer service...
I love Grumpy's! As a matter of fact, I have gotten away from the shop I have gone to for years and just go into Grumpy's. Grumpy's runs circles around them. Grumpy(aka Tom) is excellent. He will spend all day with you if you need the help or want to gain knowledge. Casted my first baitcaster there on the side street in the off season...not many places you can do that. His prices are right in line with everyone else too...sometimes he is cheaper.
I will make sure I bother them to get on here. I will leave one of the cards to "remind" them.

Never have been to Grumpy's, I've passed going out to IBSP. Think I'll make it a point to stop next time I'm down. t^

Hey Matt, you can ask Paul to show you the many cards I have dropped off to them. They are probably around the shop somewhere.
Happy Catching
