I just got back from a weekend in Rhode Island. Great blackfishing.
The areas of structure are tremendous. There are ledges just off the beach and large tog to 10 lbs are swimming. In 3 hours we had 40 big fish that went in the cooler for the ride home. Lots of fun to leave NJ and take advantage of the 8 fish limit until we open.
They fish an interesting 2 hook rig there which is attached to a 2 way with a clip for the sinker. Its sure worked.

Ross great fishing and report t^ ,actually caught my first Blackfish in Rhode Island,my son Brian(Striper74) lived there before moving back to NJ,we were clamming for Stripers in Narragansett Bay,when I get a nice 22 inch plus tog weighing just over 8 1/2 lbs.it was caught on the boat I have now, that I took over from him,he had just bought the boat shortly before moving his family back to Jersey and not able to use it with family obligations with 2 young children.actually had a great weekend of fishing up there with him. Yeah, RI is loaded with blackfish, lots of structure right in the bay, rocky bottom, plenty of islands to fish off! When Kezsr caught a blackfish up there, I remember going to the baitshop afterwards, and he's repeatedley telling the the guy I caught a big Tauhog, not being used to the species name in NE! He must of said it 10 times, I got a 9 lb. Tauhog.... LMFAO..... I remember the day like yesterday, we were real shallow off Patience Island in Narragansett Bay, no more than 10 feet fishing off a sandbar! Good memory pop!
