Title: Surf fishing in Cape May
Post by: Sam3 on June 19, 2007, 07:35:02 AM
Hey gang,

Going to be on vacation the week of the 4th of July down in Cape May and wanted some input or ideas of places to go for some surf fishing and what type of tackle to try.
BTW..I've never surf fished before.  ;D

But having a whole week down there, I thought it would be a good time to start learning.

Thanks,

Sam

I spend several week in Cape May each summer. Started surf fishing there last year, had a lot of fun. I fish at sunset Beach, that is down by the Cape may light house. There is a nice parking lot there. I am there by 5:00am stop at WaWa for coffee then head to the surf. Bring a pair of surf shoes or surf socks, the beach has little rocks that will get into a pair of sandles and kill your feet. Fish by either jetty, use metal or a spro with a plastic teaser, try the gulp baits. Used a bucktail last year and a fin-s and caught weakfish and blues, metal caught blues, bass, rock bass and sea robins. Hope this helps and good luck. I will be there this Thursday to this sunday and will be fishing every morning.
