THIS IS FOR 2007
Guys
Just received this information from Tom Fote of the JCAA, it is self explainitoty......gets your pens and keyboards warmed up to send in your comments.
There was a meeting of the NJ Marine Fisheries Council Summer Flounder Committee and Advisors on Tuesday February 20. A couple of new options were presented last night that were not in the original six sent out. Options 3 and 4 are new and give us longer seasons than at the size and bag limits. After a lot of discussion the NJ Marine Fisheries Council Summer Flounder Committee narrowed it down to four options to take to the full council on March 1 meeting. There was no support for 161/2 Bag limit and only one advisor support the 171/2 size limit. The rest supported two options with 17 size limits. I said JCAA had done a straw pool and supported option 2 in but we had not really discussed option 3 since we only saw that at the last minute and some of the clubs did not have that option when they mailed in their preferences. Some supported option 3 and others stayed neutral since they had not discuss option three with the people they represent. The NJ Marine Fisheries Council Summer Flounder Committee met in closed session after we left and was voted on a preferred option after the advisors left. I talked to Council member Pat Donnelly and the committee preference is for option 3. At the February 27 JCAA Meeting we will vote on which option to support from this list of 4. Remember the NJ Marine Fisheries Council meets on March 1 at Galloway Twp. Branch of the Atlantic Co. Library, 306 East Jimmie Leeds Road, Absecon at 4pm to decide this issue.

whats w/ that last option ,it just doesnt seem to fit in there,I think that no matter how it goes there are gonna be alot of unhappy fisherman
-
I hope they lean more toward an 8 fish limit than 3 in either option 2 or 3..

Option 1 makes for some nice size fish waiting for the taking come July 1,

While I applaud the efforts by our div of marine fisheries council, why did they not send the options out for public committee prior to releasing the original 6?
While I would like to think the elected members are out for the good of all, what is the real reason behind adding these late options?
I realized today that I can argue about all the options in the world as they relate to ME. What I don't understand or have access to are the real numbers and collection methods. My new research goal will be to learn about these methods and on what basis do they determine these options.
