Yes, you do need a license. I confirmed this by email with a NY DEC Rep. Reciprocity doesn't qualify here, since NJ does not have a saltwater license yet.

Wonder how thats gonna work out for the charter/ party boats
Most of the nite striper action is drift fishing close to far rockaway n breezy point
-
I got it because I net and snag bunkers in Great Kills!
-
I ordered mine too. Its too bad that we cant combine fresh and saltwater license together.

Enough already!!!

Because I have not researched this issue at all, I'm guessing it's per person and not for the boat???

alot of charter boats get live bait in new york waters in early spring...they will get the license...i do more clamming and trolling until the bait shows up down the beaches of sandy hook and points south. if the bunker pens are open in may i can get 2 dozen bunker for a couple of bucks with just a phone call if i need them. honestly, to make that run for bait, i would have to charge more on my charters. just not worth it for me to do that, and the bass fishing wasnt that great at night over at rockaway and breezy last year. pretty much the north edge of the ambrose channel from romer shoal out to ambrose light is all new jersey waters anyway and i can do alot of bassing in the channel and between the channels and put a catch together just fine at night!!!!!!! Have Fun!
