Title: Clearing that cabin fever for the surf guys.
Post by: ped579 on March 16, 2010, 05:03:29 PM
I know that many of you have been cooped up for a long period of time, as good old Mother Nature has thrown just about every winter event at us this winter, but there is still hope.

Now would be a good time to get out and clear those cob webs out of the 'ol think tank.  I went over to the beach today and decided to do some scouting and boy is the ocean churned up.  The water was brown and full of sand, but the beaches were clean of debris (that is a good thing).  Yes the waves are I would guess 6 to 8' this morning and really ripping.

I did notice that the birds were working a little but what I notices was that they were working the cuts.  You could see the cuts very clearly if you knew where to look, and see the rip currents meandering out through them.

There was a ENE wind blowing and the tide was almost out.  It was a good time to scout. I know it will change but for now what else is there to do.  I also checked Seaside Heights and the Seaside Park as well.  I now have a good starting point when the weather clears and the seas die down.

Read the article on Reading the Sand and use the tips there to start you off.

Warmer weather will be here soon so make the most of the nice days and learn something new.

Happy Catching

Betty and Nick's posted videos today of beach conditions at IBSP.  He's also got info on available bait.

I was over at Grumpys this morning and Paul mentioned that IBSP is open again.  Sooo, that is a good sign.

I went this morning to try out the back bays for a few hours and nada but the water is warming up nicely.  At the piers in SSH the temp reached 50, sweet... clp

Happy Catching

Both Grumpy's and B&N had their first ocean caught bass weigh-ins today (same fish).  It's a good sign.

Ortley and SSP are both working on moving a lot of sand.  Ortley is building the dunes back up.  SSP is clearing the dune paths, boardwalk and streets.  Between the sand piles and the water main project, getting around SSP is tough.

Spent a little time in Ortley this afternoon soaking up the sun and breathing the salt air.  Felt good.....I can't wait.

Ah, you gotta love those guys that catch a fish and then take it on the "B&T Weigh-in Tour"! ;D

My view....take it to the place you bought the bait.
