I was just reading the Chum post and got me thinking about winter flounder.. I have only ever been fishing for winter flounder once usually because I was concentrating on trout at the time but this year i want to get out there and fish for flounder..any of you guys want to get together and do some fishing?? I do not have a boat but maybe we could rent one. Can you catch flounder from the surf?? I wouldnt mind doing that either..

Wow guys dont all jump at once.. ;D

Hey,
Do not know where you would want to fish out of, but where I dock in Highlands they rent boats, etc. You'll be right there on the Shrewsbury river, could go into the Navesink or into Sandy Hook Bay.
Some of the best Flounder fishing is right in the Shrewsbury not more than 500 yards from the dock...........
Hope it helps, location is Schupps Landing 12 Bay Ave Highlands ;)

I was thinking March 31st or april 1st what do you guys think??

I remember a couple years ago fishing in the surf for stripers we caught a winter flounder..so i guess thats a yes to surf fishing for them if you dont have a boat :)

If you catch one in the surf it's accidental, you sometimes catch one when their moving out to the ocean when the waters in the back get too warm. If your going to target them your better off fishing off a dock in the river or bay!!!
