Okay, today was a real blast after a dismal first start. We got on the beach by 4:30 and went down to the inlet and to my surprise there was very little water. Yep BLOW OUT TIDE...The wind for the past 3 days has pushed the water way out and I really did not want to take a chance of driving the beach buggie down that far. So we waited for the tide to come in a bit.
Saw a ton of birds working about a 1/2 mile off the beach. When I say tons there must of been at least 2 to 3 hundred birds. Very Cool.
We noticed that there were a few guys fishing the inlet and they started to pull blues. We rode over and yep the bite was on. Once we dialed in to what worked it was fish on just about every cast. Unbelievable.
We kept 2 and just played C&R and watched others fill their coolers. One guy had so much he needed help closing the lid.
Saw, some guys I knew and decided to watch them for a while as they were dialed into stripers now. My arms were sore from pulling blues and it was getting close to quitting time so the rods stayed in the holders.
What was being used you ask? The blues were all caught on white bucktails tipped with pink Fin-S deadly. Cast out let it hit the bottom and then just a slow retrieve back with a little pump action.
Stripers were all being caught on top water plugs like metal lipped swimmers. bottle poppers but real slow retrieve. color? It did not seem to matter.
I have to warn you though it is a bit crowded out there right now. Plus it seemed that the window for catching was around top of high tide and when we left they were still catching.
Where? Any where along from A7 to the pocket. If you can get out do so by all means. Everything is about a week to a week and a half early.
Happy Catching
