Made the first surf trip of 2010 this evening.
With all the reports of hot fishing in the area this week, the wife and I decided to take a ride down to IBSP tonight and give it a try. The goal for this season was for her to get her first bass. And since I'm on the "IR List", my role was coach and bait boy.
Got down to the park around 6pm armed with bunker and clams. Tide was incoming, wind west at 20-25, water was clean and calm.
It wasn't the nonstop action of earlier in the week, but it was still good for early season. Had a couple hits with one boofish landed, a couple lost and one tiny skate.
On the last round of bait for the night and with the sun setting, the clam rod takes a dive. Becky grabs it, sets the hook and it's on. The fish takes a long and strong run east. In the end, the fish lost. 2010 goal achieved t^ She landed a nice healthy 10.3 lb 31in striper. Way to go babe clp

Howdy guys - my first post in response to my catch last week. Thanks to a great coach, I'm starting to get the hang of this fishing "thing". ;) Looking forward to going out tonight, as well as several days next week. Am sure Chris will keep y'all updated. t^

Hi Becky, It is great to hear that you are on the board with your first keeper this year. Keep at it. I think this year is going to be a good one for the surf.
Happy Catching
